Good Afternoon Everyone,
Thank you for your patience today. It was clear that we wouldn’t be able to open based on the road conditions we woke up to this morning. Since yesterday, we have received several feet of snow with deep wind drifts on the upper mountain. We were able to get some teams on the mountain today to start digging out, but we have a lot more work to do before it’s safe to open the mountain. We are focused on snow safety work, digging out the lift terminals and ramps, maintaining proper clearances, raising rope lines and tower pads, and grooming our key runs.
Tomorrow, 3/6, we are planning on a delayed opening with a limited footprint. Our current ETO is 11:00 AM on both sides of the mountain. The Gondola and top of Gondola lifts + facilities will be closed. We plan to open with Lower California and Lower Nevada lifts and will expand lifts and terrain as we can. The week ahead looks good in terms of wind and getting the entire mountain open - conditions should be amazing!
We also expect road conditions to be better by the time we open tomorrow, but will continue to stress that chains or 4WD vehicles with snow tires are required to access our base areas. As always, please keep an eye on road conditions before leaving for our resort.
We are so grateful for our team’s hard work and dedication through this storm. Handling these conditions is no easy task – yet they do an incredible job each and every time we get a weather event like this. After these big snow cycles it’s pretty much like opening the resort all over again each time.
Please check HV Conditions or sign up for our text alerts by texting ‘UPDATES’ to (530) 302-2751 for the latest. We will continue to update you on those channels in the morning, and throughout the day tomorrow. In the meantime, stay safe and warm!
Tom
